18 Jan Nuneaton Battalion in billets, Headquarters in Congregational Hall. First day of mobilisation. Authority WO letter 79/11. 3.30pm DADOS 29 Division arrived. Conference of all commanding officers and quartermasters
24 Jan Nuneaton A & B companies medically inspected
24 Jan Nuneaton C & D companies medically inspected. 1 NCO and 2 men passed unfit.
1 Feb Nuneaton 3.35 pm 110 men arrived from 4th battalion at Sittingbourne. New rifles received. Mobilization stores and equipment began to arrive.
1 Feb Nuneaton 8.30am 70 men arrive from 3rd battalion in Cork.
11 Feb Nuneaton Major General C D Cooper CB, Colonel of the regiment, arrived, inspected the battalion and bade it farewell.
16 Feb Nuneaton 39 men, immature soldiers, and temporarily unfit sent to the 3rd battalion in Cork. All sea kit bags and spare clothing sent to Embarkation Officer at Southampton.
26 Feb Nuneaton Battalion paraded in mobilization order.
6 Mar Nuneaton Moved into billets in Kenilworth by march route. Orders were received to send in a return of cap, service dress and boot sizes indicating equiping for another theatre of war.
12 Mar Kenilworth 29th Division concentrated at Dunmore Heath for inspection by HM The King. The division formed up along London Road, and subsequently marched past His Majesty in column of route.
13 Mar Kenilworth Troops received extra suit of service dress and exrtra pair of boots. Mules drawn in place of heavy draught horses.
15 Mar Kenilworth Left in 3 trains for embarkation at Avonmouth. 27 officers, 937 other ranks on HMT Ausonia. 1 officer and 70 other ranks with regimental horses and mules on HMT Mercian. Set sail at 7pm.
24 Mar At Sea Very calm passage, arrived at Malta at 6am and went into Grand Harbour at (am
26 Mar Malta 07.30 sailed for Alexandria
28 Mar At Sea 9843 Private P Kavanagh died of pneumonia in the ship's hospital. Buried at 12 noon.
29 Mar Alexandria Arrived morning at 07.00. Unloaded transport wagons and carts, tents and kits.
30 Mar Alexandria Lt Lanigan O'Keefe to hospital. Reloaded 1st battalion transport on Ausonia. 4pm marched off ship to Mex Camp
