25 April 1915 from an account bt Capt David French of 1st RDF I superintended the wounded being taken off that afternoon [the day after the landing] & then was sent off to the ‘Caledonia’ – a hospital receiving ship. The wounded had a ghastly time – none of the Dublins being attended to – except with field dressings – by a medical man for 36 hours. Any doctor who approached the shore was immediately knocked out, & eventually orders were given to them that they were on no account to land until ‘V’ beach was ‘safe’.
14th July 1915 sailed from Devonport en route for Gallipoli.
24 Dec 1915 HMT Caledonia sailed from Mudros for Egypt, arriving at Alexandria on 27 December 1915.
5 Jan 1916 left Mudros for Alexandria with 10 officers and 100 men of 1st RDF among the passengers.

2 June 1916 sailed from Alexandria on and reached Marseilles, France on 9 June 1916.

The Leasowe Castle was torpedoed 100 miles north of Alexandria on 27 May 1918. The rest of the ships reached Marseille
18 June 1918 HMT Caledonia sailed in a convoy . The convey consisted of Caledonia with Kaiser-i-Hind and three accompanying ships, sailed at 3.30pm on the 18th. The voyage was fairly uneventful except for an incident on the 21st when a T.B.Destroyer in front went in pursuit of a submarine dropping depth charges. (result unknown). They arrived at Taranto, Italy on the afternoon of the 21June 1918
