5 Dec Noyelles sur Mer 11.45 am A lecture on Bayonet fighting was delivered at the Brigade Office, Nouvion by Capt Huntingdon, Superintendent of PT 4th and 5th Armies.

5 Dec Noyelles sur Mer The following appreciative message was received by C D Cooper, Major General, Colonel Royal Dublin Fusiliers. "Please convey to all ranks of your battalion my very high appreciation of their gallantry at the battle of the Ancre, of which I have just been informed. All ranks have indeed maintained and added to the great traditions of the Old Regiment. I feel very proud of their great fighting qualities and I offer my sincere congratulations. I very much regret your very heavy losses and I deeply sympathise with you all. My very best wishes to all ranks"

11 Dec Noyelles sur Mer 9.30am Battalion proceeded on a route march. Brig Gen Heneker relinquished command of 190 Brigade. Lt Col E C P Boyle assumed temporary command pending the arrival of Brig Gen Finch. The following appreciative message was received from Brig Gen Heneker "I desire on vacating the command of 190 Infantry Brigade, on promotion, to convey to the Officers, Warrant Officers, Non Commissioned Officers and men my appreciation of the fine spirit which animates all ranks. I feel that I was indeed fortunate to have the honour to command the brigade during the battle of the Ancre, and beg to thank everyone for the support given to me, and wish you one and all the best of luck for the future"
